Physics shows that the heavier an object is, the more energy is required to move it and also that when a heavy object is travelling, it will require greater effort to stop it, creating greater friction. Therefore when talking about motorcycles, and particularly about wheels, weight saving can have a dramatic effect on performance. Fitting lighter wheels will result in better acceleration, better braking and less gyroscopic effect meaning the bike will handle better and ‘turn in’ quicker.

Galespeed alloy wheels are manufactured from forged aluminium, weighing in at between 4.0 and 4.5kg depending on the model, they are much lighter than stock and the distribution of that weight is also better.

The forging process increases metallic density with heat and high pressure, which allows a stronger, thinner wall construction and therefore a lighter wheel. Usually, a cast wheel must be at least 4-5mm thick or it is liable to break but Galespeed forged wheels have a rim thickness of less than 3mm!

Another benefit is that original equipment cast wheels have the mass in the rim, which can cause gyroscopic effect whereas Galespeed wheels have the mass centred in the hub, which results in better manoeuvrability, braking and acceleration as well as reducing wear and tear on tyres and brake pads.
